The Tamperer f. Maya Days
“What’s She Gonna Look Like With a Chimney On Her?”
Maya Days dares to ask this question in the smash hit “Feel It”.
“Feel It” produced by The Tamperer, became a worldwide phenomenon, racing up the pop charts – all the way to number one in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, and the rest of the free world. With Maya Days giving a fierce vocal over the “Can You Feel It” sample by the Jackson Five – this anthem became a battle cry against infidelity and brought danger to the airwaves.
Now, Maya Days is coming home.
Jive Records has released “If You Buy This Record Your Life Will be Better” along with the dance-pop-rock based “Hammer To The Heart” written by Brian Rowlands, the man behind the award winning “Believe” record by Cher. These grooves are more unique pop confections that beg the question: Who is this girl?
Having returned to the US after a ticket sales recordbreaking run in the London production of “Rent”, Maya has made her mark on America. Her dazzling performance in the starring role of Mimi, a drug addicted exotic dancer, earned raves from audiences and critics alike and she was soon asked by the shows producers to play the part on Broadway. This coincided with her assault on the UK pop charts and her third chart topping single.
Now Maya has been blessed (no pun intended) to star as another leading lady. Her recently being cast as Mary Magdelene in the Broadway revival of “Jesus Christ Superstar” has earned her a distinction all her own.
This success is a long way from the early days of her career. Maya Days was born and raised in Fall River Massachusetts, home of the Lizzie Borden axe murders. It was there, she realized, she had to perform. Community theatre allowed her to play many roles in musicals, developing her vocal and dance talents and an insatiable need for the stage.
One of her first jobs gave her a close-up view of the underbelly of show business, as she did makeup for strippers at a club in Providence, Rhode Island. After turning away massive sums of money to strip at the club, Maya sensed it was time to move on and realize her dream of performing. She took the tips she had earned from the girls and headed west.
Once settled in Los Angeles, Maya set her sights on her goals. When not working at her job, delivering food to the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, Maya would go on auditions. With no support from managers or agents, she tackled stardom alone. One day there was an open casting call for the Broadway show Rent. After 5 callbacks, she was asked to join the Los Angeles company, and that forever altered the course of her career.
Maya Days, made her Broadway debut as Mimi in Rent after touring with the national and London companies. As a UK Jive recording artist, Maya has had three top ten hits including a number one.
Musical theater credits include Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, A Chorus Line, and West Side Story.
“Universally, people love to laugh and have fun. Life can be hard. If I can lift their spirits and shake some asses at the same time, I’m in heaven!”
