Quad City DJ's
The original production team of C.C. Lemonhead (Nathaniel Orange) and Jay Ski (Johnny McGowan) met as high-school pals in Jacksonville, FL. Interested in the bottom-heavy sound of Miami bass, the pair began producing and worked with Icy J and Three Grand before creating the most popular bass anthem of all time "Whoot (There It Is)”. With Jay Ski at the helm as co-vocalist, song writer, publisher and producer - 95 South’s single went platinum three times over in 1993.
Upon achieving success, Jay Ski worked his magic with the female Miami bass duo dIS-N-dAT which churned their hit "Freak Me Baby".
Jay later went on to work on 69 Boyz, again as co-vocalist, song writer, publisher and producer. Their single "Tootsee Roll” went on to become double-platinum and the subsequent album by 69 Boyz (199Quad). Jay Ski picked up an award for Billboard's Best Rap Single of 1994 and placed in the top ten producers of that year.
In 1995, Jay Ski went on to create his fifth group - Quad City DJ's. His creative genius produced another platinum hit "C'Mon N' Ride It (Ride the Train)”. The following album, Get on Up and Dance, hit the Top 40 and was certified gold.
In 1996, Jay Ski worked along side Warner Brothers to write, produce and rap on another platinum single “Space Jam” which incorporated Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes characters.
Quad City DJ’s has been touring the world since 1995. Performing all of his hits from his 69 Boyz, 95 South and Quad City DJ’s catalog.
As if that was not enough, in 2021 was once again contacted by Warner Brothers to work on “Space Jam 2”, this time incorporating Lebron James and the Looney Tunes characters.
Today, Jay Ski continues to perform along with his son and hype man Brisk in addition to conducting lectures for private businesses, colleges and universities under his Global Entertrainment brand where he motivates personnel to reach higher goals in life.
