Brad Vee's Boney M Experience
Born and raised in New York City in the Bronx on June 7, 1961 to Deloris Aida Richardson (Johnson) from North Carolina and William Edward Johnson from Meridian, Mississippi, his love for music and singing was formed at an early age by the influence of his mother singing in the church gospel choir and his father being a jazz pianist. He went on to teach himself how to play the guitar, flute, double bass and piano. He studied music at the High School for Performing Arts (FAME school) under Dorothy McDaniels and studied voice with legendary jazz singer Marie Blake. Ms. Blake offered him is first public singing appearance at now defunct Five Oaks Piano Bar and Supper Club located on Grove Street in Greenwich Village in New York City. He also studied acting at HB Studios with William Hickey (Academy Award Winning Actor) an acclaimed actor coach.
While living in Sweden he was able to expand his theatrical and acting world by taking part in several television productions such as Rena Rama Rolf (“Call Me Bob” episode) which was Sweden equivalent to the famous American series from the 1950’s with Jackie Gleason called “The Honeymooners”. He also managed to sing and perform in his one and only opera, The Magic Flute, under the direction renowned Swedish director Peter Oskarsson and played the minor role of Monostatos for which he received rave reviews. He also successfully started Sweden’s premiere gospel choir ONE VOICE which will be celebrating it’s 22nd anniversary this year as well as B&B Gospel Singers together American artist Beverly Glenn.
He met Sheyla Bonnick (the original lead singer of BONEY M) in 1993 while she was on tour in Sweden with fellow Boney M member, Maizie Williams and began to tour with her Boney M group. During this period he also collaborated with several international artists such as: Laura Pausini, Grace Jones, Patti LaBelle, Bryan Adams, Vonda Shepherd, Agneta Fälskog (ABBA), Lutricia McNeal, Dr. Alban, Kee Marcello (Europe), Henry Gibson of the Curtis Mayfield band, Clarence Clemmo of The E Street Band, Eagle Eye Cherry and the legendary Mary Wilson from The Supremes to name a few.
He relocated to Romania in 2004 where he was immediately offered a record contract with Roton Records. He collaborated with Romanian DJ Raoul Rousso and recorded to house / club hits “Release the Fire” and “Believe In Me”. He created a fundraising effort in Romania to stop the spread of AIDS and create AWARENESS in the country for the children suffering and dying in 2006 called LOVE RUNS FREE and recorded a single with nine of Romania’s leading artists entitled “Love Still Runs Free”. Children with Special Needs; is a charity close to his heart.
In 2017, reconnected with former Boney M vocalists and performed several concerts together before forming his own Brad Vee’s Boney M Experience with Boney M alumni's. In 2019, Maya Myluv joined their group and they are currently planning a South American tour for 2024.
