He became known mainly for his role as "Wilson Manyoma" in the serie ''El Joe, the legend'' and for being a former singer of Grupo Niche. He has a successful career within the musical and interpretive field in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and other Latin American countries. He has prepared songs for works by Oscar D 'León, Joe Arroyo and Naty Botero. As a composer, Mauro Castillo has written songs for important orchestras and singers such as: Oscar de León (Song "El Papelito") and Joe Arroyo (Song "Tonight is ours" with Naty Botero) Titanes de la salsa and Hermanos Moreno among others. He has also participated as a trombonist, percussionist, producer and mixing engineer in projects such as: Yuri Buenaventura, Charlie Zaa, They are from Cali, Ismael Miranda, Calambuco, Mojarra Eléctrica, Julio Nava, Tito Nieves and N'Klabe.
He is also part of the cast of the Disney film inspired by Colombian culture Encanto in the role of “Felix Madrigal”. Felix Madrigal is a supporting character in Disney's 2021 animated feature film, Encanto. He is the husband of Pepa Madrigal, and the father of Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio. As he married into the family, Félix lacks a magical gift of his own. Despite this, his carefree and fun-loving nature helps to manage his wife’s weather-controlling emotions.
